Have you ever heard the words “Personal Injury”? In general, personal injury refers to an injury someone sustains that is caused by someone else, they are very common in motor vehicle accidents, such as a “whiplash” injury caused by a rear-end collision, they can occur in the workplace, or even sometimes when a device or product malfunctions and injures someone.

As chiropractors, we help our patients out with all types of injuries, from nagging neck pain, a back spasm from picking up something heavy, headaches from muscle tension, to sports or exercise injuries.

The purpose of this page is to educate on personal injury accidents, the process, what to do, and treatment.

If you were involved in a car accident, the first and most important thing to do is make sure you and anyone involved in the accident is alright, go to the emergency room if you need immediate attention. After the initial shock from the accident, take a few deeps breaths, try to remain calm, exchange information with the other party, and take pictures to document the accident, and call your auto insurance to let them know what has happened.

Unfortunately it is very common to have neck and back pains following an accident, sometimes they are felt immediately, other times it may take a couple days for the pain to set in, either way, you should absolutely make an appointment with a chiropractor with experience in treating patients after auto accidents. The main reasons to see a chiropractor after an accident are:

  1. They can start treatment right away so you have the best likelihood of feeling better fastest, and to avoid long term injury/pain.
  2. Chiropractors can make the appropriate referrals if you need to see any specialists (such as a neurologist) or any advanced imaging (such as X-ray or MRI).
  3. Chiropractors document the injury for the insurance company, and can help answer any questions you have about the process, including billing questions.

At any rate, if you were involved in an accident, give us a call and we are happy to answer any questions.

If the accident wasn’t your fault, you should not have any out of pocket expense for your chiropractic/medical treatment. Our goal is to get you back to normal as fast as possible!
